May 12th saw the must-attend show for meetings professionals launch IMEX BuzzHub, a Smyle-developed community that allows participants to listen, learn and connect.
The Mandalay Bay Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip will host the global meetings industry over four fabulous days in November. But who can wait until then to get started?! So leading events agency Smyle has helped create IMEX BuzzHub, a forum for meeting and events professionals to gather, network and learn. IMEX BuzzHub runs from Wednesday May 12th until Thursday 30th September and has a busy agenda of leading speakers and opportunities to network and plan ahead of the main show. Visitors can use the community directory to connect to others, drop them a line, set up meetings and get chatting. In the coming weeks new content will be crowdsourced and sessions organized from within the community, with people sharing their own experiences with others.
On Wednesday 12th May the programme included two interactive events. The first saw Shane Feldman, an award-winning social entrepreneur recognised by The White House and the UN for his achievements in community leadership, talk on the subject of ‘Leadership passport: building community to move beyond competition and scale impact’. In his presentation Shane revealed how to cultivate a work environment centred around community; one that enables individuals and teams to perform at their highest levels.
This was followed by a panel discussing the topic of ‘Events are not enough anymore. Why is everyone betting on communities?’ Here the subject was how popular in-person events are betting on community as the propeller for change. Could this finally be the right time to realise the promise of year-long engagement and see it come to fruition?
Interspersed between the formal events will be question-and-answer sessions and multiple occasions for participants to join the conversation, make new contacts and get to know existing contacts better. It’s not all work work work – hang outs cover personal interests – everything from cute pictures of your pets to what’s your favourite cocktail!
