To transform a simple yet uninspiring Wembley hotel ballroom with no natural daylight into a glamourous, all-singing all all-dancing party destination that, itself, matched the production values of the TV programme itself.
What we did
Rather than simply produce a party with uninspiring drinks and canapés on behalf of Fremantle Media, Syco, Talk Talk and other sponsors, Smyle opted instead to transform client expectations.
We created an immersive and unrivalled pre and post-show experience that captured the X Factor’s inimitable style for 700 VIP guests across the final weekend.
Challenging conventions, we designed different areas to reflect the journey of the X Factor contestant – from the registration area, designed to replicate the audition room, to a backstage area replete with flight cases and lighting rigs and the judges’ dressing rooms, guests were able to enjoy pre-show drinks before being whisked off to the live final at Wembley.
VIPs then returned to the party space for a more formal cocktail style event with an additional stage area for music/live performances from previous contestants, as well as a DJ and additional interactive elements on behalf of the show’s sponsor, TalkTalk.
Not only did we shock the client, who was not expecting us to be so creative, but the fact that we worked hard to mirror the contestant journey created real excitement.
Every year, we continue to push the boundaries by using new and exciting technologies, as well as reflecting the shift in the show’s character, change of judges and so on.
Overall, we provided a ‘wow factor’ that excited Fremantle’s commercial partners, their business partners and key influencers… creating a series of memorable moments to truly celebrate the biggest programme on commercial TV in the UK.
